The whole West Ham United squad are available to vote for by supporters for this year’s Women’s Hammer of the Year award – here are five players that caught the eye in Claret and Blue this season…

Kateřina Svitková

The Czech Republic international has enjoyed a fruitful season playing at wing-back. Svitková has played 24 times across the campaign, scoring five goals. Three of those came in the team’s run to the quarter-finals of the Conti Cup.

The 25-year-old has been integral to the team since her return after missing the opening month of the season through injury.

Kate Longhurst

West Ham through and through is exactly what Kate Longhurst is. Longhurst has been another key cog in Harder’s team, moving back from central midfield to play at wing-back and centre-half this season, and has enjoyed success when playing in either position.

The 33-year-old scored a wonderful headed equaliser against Tottenham in January and made her 100th appearance for the Club in April.

Dagný Brynjarsdóttir

Another Hammers fan in the Women’s ranks, Iceland international Dagný Brynjarsdóttir has been a reliable source of goals for the team this season, scoring six in all competitions, with four coming in the FA WSL.

Brynjarsdóttir joined the Irons in January 2021, becoming Olli Harder’s first signing after taking over as manager. Since then, the midfielder has added dynamism to an already hard-working team.

Yui Hasegawa

Yui Hasegawa has made the transition from Serie A to the FA WSL seem effortless. The Japan international has shone at times, with moments of trickery and intelligence a huge part of her game.

In the WSL this season, Hasegawa has scored two memorable goals. Her first for the Club came against Manchester City, a delightful lob over Khiera Keating in a fantastic 2-0 win. The second saw her show superb footwork and composure to wrap up a 2-1 win over Reading in late April.

Lucy Parker

Lucy Parker has enjoyed a solid debut season in the WSL, having signed for the Hammers last summer after a number of years in the United States of America. The defender has made 22 appearances in all competitions scoring twice in the Conti Cup group stages.

Parker is another player who has shown versatility throughout the season, playing in both central defence and at wing-back – whilst looking composed in both positions. The 23-year-old has also been capped at England U23 level this season and will be hoping to break into the senior Lionesses squad in the future.
