Okoflex and Coventry earn Ireland U21 calls

West Ham United duo Armstrong Okoflex and Conor Coventry have been named in the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for their upcoming UEFA U21 Championship qualifiers against Italy and Sweden.

Academy forward Okoflex earns his first call-up at this level, while Coventry - currently on a season-long loan with EFL Championship side Peterborough United - could add to his 20 U21 caps.

Okoflex's selection is reward for a fine start to his career in the Hammers Academy since his summer move from Celtic, which has seen him score five goals in eight Premier League 2 matches, plus another goal in the Papa John's Trophy.

Coventry, meanwhile, has featured in eight of The Posh's Championship matches so far this season.

The Republic of Ireland are currently fourth in Group F of qualifying for the 2023 finals tournament, but are only four points behind leaders Sweden.

They take on Italy at Tallaght Stadium on Friday 12 November, before facing Sweden at the same venue four days later.
