On This Day: Freddie Piquionne and Carlton Cole rock The Riverside

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

Frédéric Picquionne and Carlton Cole were on target as West Ham United beat Middlesbrough on this day in 2011.

A powerful first half header from the Frenchman had put the Hammers on course to record a fourth successive victory in the Npower Championship, strengthening Allardyce's side hold of the automatic promotion spots.

'Boro' rallied in the second period but were unable to prevent their first home defeat of the campaign, with Carlton Cole finishing from close range after rounding Luke Steele in added time.

West Ham United would, of course, go on to win the 2011/2012 Championship Play-off final and return to the top flight of English football, whilst Middlesbrough narrowly missed out on the play-offs finishing seventh.
