On this day: Hammers hit five against Chelsea

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

It was a five-star day for the Hammers on this date in the calendar 34 years ago, as John Lyall's men defeated Chelsea in an eight-goal thriller.

Tony Cottee and Ray Stewart both netted braces in front of 26,859 fans at the Boleyn Ground, while Frank McAvennie was also on target.

The Hammers' firepower meant goals from Chelsea's Kerry Dixon, Keith Jones and John Bumstead counted for little.
