West Ham United sign Switzerland international Leila Wandeler

West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of Switzerland international Leila Wandeler from Première Ligue side OL Lyonnes.

The 19-year-old has penned a three-year contract in east London and becomes Rehanne Skinner’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.

The Fribourg-born forward arrives at the Hammers having represented hosts Switzerland at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, and is ready to get to work in Claret and Blue.

“It feels great to be signing for West Ham United,” she said.

"This is a big moment for me so early on in my career - to be moving to London, which is my favourite city in the world, and to play in the best league against teams with great quality.

I’m looking forward to learning from the players around me and giving everything to this team

"When I first spoke with Rehanne, she said that I will feel at home straight away. I can already see West Ham as one big family and I’m excited to be a part of it.

"I’m a very creative player on the pitch. I like to use my technical ability and attack one-versus-one. I’ve seen the development of the young players at the Club and they shine. I’m looking forward to learning from the players around me and giving everything to this team.”

Wandeler’s senior career began at local Swiss side FC Corminboeuf, following spells at BSC YB Frauen and the Swiss Football Association's Football Academy. She then joined OL Lyonnes in 2023, for whom she made three appearances, scoring once in a 2-0 victory over Nantes in April 2025.

In June, our new No27 was rewarded with her first senior international appearance in Switzerland’s final warm-up match before the Euros, and was subsequently named in Pia Sundhage’s 23-player squad for their home tournament.

Manager Skinner is pleased to add another exciting young international to her squad ahead of the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League season.

“I’m delighted to welcome Leila to West Ham United,” Skinner said.

“Leila is an exciting young player with a lot of potential. She has a great attitude and an impressive maturity for a player of such a young age.

“Playing in your first senior international tournament at the age of 19, in your home country, is no mean feat. But I thought Leila showed her quality throughout the Euros and, for me, was one of the breakout stars of the tournament.

“Leila plays on the front foot and I think her creativity and technical ability will add huge value to our squad. I’m looking forward to supporting Leila with her development moving forwards.”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Leila to the Club and wish her every success in Claret and Blue.
