West Ham United and Art of Football teamed up for a special event at Pelé Soccer in New York City’s world-famous Times Square.
Hammers players Andy Irving, Guido Rodríguez and Lewis Orford headed down Broadway to celebrate the launch of the collaboration between the iconic East London Club and fan-led brand Art of Football.
Art of Football has designed a new range of t-shirts and baseball caps to celebrate West Ham’s heritage, which were launched at the unique Pelé Soccer store, which the late Brazil legend opened in Times Square in 2019.
Pelé Soccer features a stadium-inspired design concept, with a tunnel filled with memorabilia, a football pitch shop floor surrounded by stadium-style floodlights, a big screen with bleachers and a commemorative mural paying homage to Pelé’s career with the NASL club New York Cosmos.
Irving, Rodríguez and Orford were given a tour, viewed the new Art of Football x West Ham United clothing range, took on fans in video games and took part in a panel discussion with Art of Football’s Head of Brand Kelvyn Quagraine.
Irving was delighted to be part of the launch, despite going down 3-2 to Orford in a thrilling video game.
He said: “We’re bang centre of Times Square, it doesn’t get much better than that! Having a walk round the store, meeting the people that work here and all the fans that turned out has been a great experience. It’s one of the most iconic places in the world and West Ham is massive here as well, it’s quality, it is great to see the affect the Club’s work is having in America, it’s been fantastic for us as players.”
Kelvyn Quagraine, Head of Brand at Art of Football, was proud to launch the collection at such an iconic location.
He said: “The event has been an incredible coming together of people, what we both wanted to do was to demonstrate we have a really strong fanbase in the US. When you see the culture, the heritage, of West Ham it’s such a great family orientated community both here and in east London, so for us it’s amazing to be at the heart of Times Square and showcase the two brands together.”
