Essex Pride 2022

West Ham United to be represented at Essex Pride 2023

West Ham United's LGBTQIA+ supporters' group Pride of Irons will celebrate Essex Pride 2023 in Chelmsford on Saturday.

Members of Pride of Irons, mascots Hammerhead and Bubbles the Bear, and Club representatives will be in attendance at the annual event, which will kick-off with a Pride March through the Essex city, followed by a Pride Festival in Central Park.

Essex Pride is an annual celebration of LGBTQIA+ life in Essex and beyond. Establishing itself since it began in 2003 as a cornerstone event showcasing Essex’s successful approach to diversity and inclusion.

Pride is an event for the whole community and much more than just a huge party. Pride inspires everyone to embrace equality and demonstrates that people from all walks of life can join together and celebrate diversity.

“This year is the 19th Essex Pride and since starting at Smiths Bar in 2003 it has become a huge event for the whole community to enjoy, to celebrate diversity, encourage acceptance, and promote Essex as a diverse and accepting place to live,” said the Chair of Essex Pride, Garry Ormes.

“Being involved since it began has been very rewarding and for anyone questioning their sexuality, I hope this event gives you the courage and freedom to be yourself, make new friends and just have a really great time.”

The Essex Pride March departs from Pop World on Springfield Road at 10,45am, before winding through the city centre and parks, ending in Central Park, where the Pride Festival kicks-off at 11.30am.

Participation in the March is free, but organisers are urging people to sign up here to give them an idea of overall numbers.

Tickets for the Festival can be purchased in advance here, with a £5 discount when purchased in advance.
