Starting XI | Skinner names side for Spurs derby

Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United women's team
Barclays Women's Super League, BetWright Stadium, Sunday 7 September 2025, 12noon BST

West Ham United women’s team manager Rehanne Skinner has named her first starting XI of the season as her side prepare to face Tottenham Hotspur at BetWright Stadium.

The Hammers will get their Barclays Women’s Super League campaign underway at their London rivals in front of the Sky Sports cameras, hoping to make a fast start to the fresh 2025/26 season.

Five players could make their competitive debuts in Claret and Blue on Sunday afternoon, with Inès Belloumou, Sarah Brasero, Ffion Morgan, Leila Wandeler and Selin Cemal all featuring in the matchday squad in east London.

Having played every league minute of the Irons’ record-breaking 2024/25 WSL campaign, Kinga Szemik starts in between the sticks against the Lilywhites -  her first competitive match since representing Poland at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

The Irons' defence consists of Anouk Denton, vice-captain Shelina Zadorsky, Eva Nyström and Verena Hanshaw. This will be Zadorsky’s third trip to her former side after she joined the Hammers permanently from Spurs last summer.

Centre-back Nyström was also at the Euros this summer with fellow Finland international Oona Siren, and our No4 starts alongside skipper Katrina Gorry in midfield.

Meanwhile, hoping to fire in the goals to help West Ham on their way to back-to-back victories over Spurs in the WSL for the first time are Seraina Piubel, who was on target against the Lilywhites in the Subway® Women's League Cup last term, last season’s Hammer of the Year Viviane Asseyi, Shekiera Martinez and Riko Ueki.

Both Asseyi and Ueki netted against Tottenham in the league in 2024/25, with the former scoring in a 2-0 success at Chigwell Construction Stadium in March.

Skinner has nine substitutes at BetWright Stadium this afternoon: goalkeeper Megan Walsh, defenders Amber Tysiak and Belloumou, midfielders Halle Houssein, Brasero and Cemal, and forwards Manuela Paví, Wandeler and Morgan.
