Leeds United v West Ham United
Premier League, Elland Road, Friday 24 October 2025, 8pm BST
Nuno Espírito Santo has made two changes to his starting XI for West Ham United’s Premier League fixture at Leeds United on Friday evening.
El Hadji Malick Diouf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka come into the defence, with Kyle Walker-Peters and Mateus Fernandes the two players who miss out.
Diouf and Wan-Bissaka return to the starting XI after being introduced as half-time substitutes in Monday’s 2-0 home defeat by Brentford.
Leeds’ first home Friday night Premier League fixture in 31 years will see the Hammers seek a fifth win in seven meetings with the Peacocks.
The eleven players who Nuno has selected to go for that victory are goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who keeps goal against Leeds in the Premier League for the first time in a West Ham jersey. The Frenchman kept a clean sheet in the Hammers’ 2-0 FA Cup third-round win over Leeds in January 2022.
Captain Jarrod Bowen scored West Ham’s second goal in that tie. The No20 has five goals in 12 career appearances against Leeds - two for Hull City in a 2-0 Championship win at Elland Road in December 2018 and one each in Premier League games at London Stadium in January 2022 and May 2023.
Diouf and Wan-Bissaka will join Maximilian Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo and Ollie Scarles in what looks to be a back five.
Wan-Bissaka has never tasted defeat in five previous appearances against Leeds, all for his previous club Manchester United. The DR Congo international has won two and drawn one of his three games at Elland Road.
With Fernandes not in the team, the central midfield positions will be filled by Andy Irving and Tomáš Souček.
The Czech, who is set to make his 200th Premier League appearance in West Yorkshire, is another player who has never lost against Leeds, with five wins and a draw from his six West Ham appearances against the Whites. Souček scored our equaliser from a Bowen assist in a 2-1 Premier League victory at Elland Road in December 2020.
Bowen and former Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville will man the flanks. Summerville played 89 times for the Yorkshire club, scoring 25 goals and assisting 13. He won the EFL Championship Player of the Season award while with Leeds in 2023/24.
Brazil international Lucas Paquetá will lead the forward line again on his 101st Premier League appearance for the Club.
