Tomáš Souček

Souček named in Czech Republic squad

West Ham United midfielder Tomáš Souček has been named in the Czech Republic squad for March friendlies against Norway and Armenia.

The 29-year-old is captain of his country, and is set to add to his 66 caps in the final bout of international action before UEFA Euro 2024 having been called up by new boss Ivan Hašek, who replaced Jaroslav Silhavy in early January.

A record of nine goals in 40 appearances across all competitions has seen Souček impress throughout 2023/24 in Claret and Blue, including his late stunner at Everton earlier this month that powered the Hammers towards a dramatic 3-1 win.

The Czech Republic qualified automatically for this summer’s upcoming Euros, finishing second behind Albania in Group E, with Havlíčkův Brod native Souček striking three times in eight qualifying games during that campaign.

His side are scheduled to take on Norway in Oslo at 5pm GMT on Friday 22 March, before hosting Armenia in Prague at 7pm GMT on Tuesday 26 March.
