Orford PL2 Player of the Month

Orford named Premier League 2 Player of the Month for April

Lewis Orford has been named Premier League 2 Player of the Month for April, capping off a standout season with the West Ham United development side.

The 19-year-old midfielder played a decisive role throughout the month, being directly involved in all of the Hammers’ goals during their regular-season fixtures. He scored both goals against Crystal Palace and provided a perfectly-weighted volleyed assist from his own half to set up Kamarai Swyer’s goal against Middlesbrough.

Orford carried his excellent form into the Premier League 2 play-offs, delivering a man-of-the-match performance and netting the go-ahead goal in the 3-1 round of 16 victory against last season’s finalists, Sunderland.

Having also been nominated in August and February, Orford is the only player across all 26 clubs to be shortlisted for the award three times this season.

The accolade rounds off a memorable campaign for the Academy graduate, who has signed a new five-year contract, made his Premier League debut, captained England U19s and helped guide West Ham United U21s to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League 2 regular season.

Congratulations, Lewis!
