Loan Watch: Wembley heartbreak for Potts

Our weekly look at how West Ham United’s loanees fared for their Clubs at home and across Europe...

Freddie Potts played 90 minutes for Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley as they were narrowly beaten in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy final by Peterborough United.

Harrison Burrows fired his side ahead with just five minutes to play with a piledriver, but that opener was cancelled out just four minutes later when Dale Taylor’s 20-yard volley found the bottom corner to seemingly send the tie to extra-time.

Yet in the first minute of stoppage time Burrows produced a dream finale for Posh as his deep cross looped over goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli.

In the Championship, Flynn Downes and Southampton's winless run extended to a third game, landing a further blow to their automatic promotion hopes.

Adam Armstrong should have put Saints ahead after ten minutes, before Joe Aribo’s header crashed off the crossbar.

Both teams had chances to win it as Saints came closest, with Kyle Walker-Peters seeing a late shot cleared by Callum Brittain.

Down two divisions, and Dan Chesters was an unused substitute for Salford City in their 1-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon.

Keenan Appiah-Forson played the full 90 minutes for Dagenham & Redbridge as they were edged out 3-2 away at Woking in the National League.

Jermaine Anderson fired the hosts into a fifth minute lead from close range, only for Ryan Hill to level six minutes later.

And there was to be plenty of late drama at Kingfield Stadium.

Woking went ahead on 85 minutes when Kevin Berkoe lifted the ball over Elliot Justham, before Jay Luker added a third in stoppage time.

Connor Lawless reduced the deficit in the dying embers, but couldn’t ignite a comeback for the Daggers.

In France, it was a bitter-sweet return to action for Thilo Kehrer, who was sent off for AS Monaco in their 1-0 home victory over Rennes.

The hosts took a first half lead when Magnes Akilouche got on the end of a pull back.

Kehrer’s afternoon was ended on 64 minutes when he was brandished a second yellow card, while Monaco held on for an important three points in their quest for UEFA Champions League qualification.

Saïd Benrahma featured for 86 minutes for Lyon, who mounted an incredible second half comeback to defeat Nantes 3-1.

Matthis Albine met Florent Mollet’s cross to head the hosts in front, though three goals inside the last fifteen minutes from Alexandre Lacazette, Malick Fofana and Gift Orban sealed the comeback win.

In Denmark, Nathan Trott continued his consistent run of games for Vejle as they earned a late point at home to rivals Viborg.

Malik Abubakari thought he had won it for the visitors, though substitute Kristian Kirkegaard rescued a point in stoppage time.
