Two West Ham United Academy goalkeepers were in action at the weekend for their respective loan clubs in the Enterprise National League.
Finlay Herrick made the perfect start to his Boreham Wood career, marking his debut for Luke Garrard’s side with three points and a clean sheet. The Wood cruised to a 3-0 home victory over ten-man Morecambe, with a brace from Matt Rush and a goal from fellow loanee debutant Lewis Richardson securing the full share of the spoils.
The young stopper was only forced into one save, albeit an important one, denying Ben Williams one-on-one from point-blank range with the score still at 2-0. As has been the case for West Ham United U21s, Herrick also impressed with the ball at his feet and his range of passing as Boreham Wood moved into the play-off places ahead of their National League Cup clash against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday evening.
Also in the National League, fellow Academy goalkeeper Mason Terry was in action for Braintree Town. Terry was named Man of the Match by supporters despite the result, making a number of important saves as the Iron slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Rochdale.

A tall order against second-place Rochdale, whose only defeat of the season came against Brackley Town in a game where they controlled over 80 per cent of the possession, Emmanuel Dieseruvwe’s sixth and seventh goals of the season in six first-half minutes were enough to secure the three points for the Dale.
Terry’s Braintree, who have already faced five of the top six, next host last season’s runners-up York City on Saturday.
