Last Word: Fornals on AEK Larnaca

Ahead of West Ham United’s UEFA Europa Conference League round of 16 second leg tie against AEK Larnaca, Pablo Fornals has the Last Word.

The tie is far from over. We are all aware of that. We can’t think the job is done because obviously, it isn’t. It’s two games to reach the last eight and yes, we did well in the first one, but the tie is not finished. We have to get over the line.

I am ready to play my part to get us to the quarter-finals, as it’s important to keep going in this competition. We are still unbeaten in Europe this year, so we just want to keep the momentum.

We are trying to be together, and give the crowds good moments, because they will be a big part of any success.

I don’t see these games as a distraction from the Premier League. Instead, it’s a chance to win games and to give players in the squad opportunities. It means that everyone is in shape and ready to be sharp when needed for what is a busy few months ahead.

We all know it is is going to be a massive few weeks for the Club. For me, the lads, our families as well. We are trying to be together, and give the crowds good moments, because they will be a big part of any success we have.

At the beginning of the season, I did not think we would be in this position in the league, but we will try to be as positive as possible to change that. Progress in Europe can help that.

We have signed a lot of players with quality, and I think West Ham is going to grow and going to be more competitive. We have lots of players and different ways we can line up. And we want to try and give the fans the support they are giving us and make more memories in Europe like last year.

The mood in the camp is good at the moment and we are focused on what needs to be done. We are trying to keep the good vibes and the positivity for each game because it is the best way to approach the game.

With football, you don’t have too much time to think about what happened in the last match because you have another challenge to turn your attention to quickly. Thursday’s match with AEK Larnaca is exactly that. A chance to get back on track.
