Kilman Everton preview

Kilman | We need to stick together

Defender Maximilian Kilman has urged his West Ham United teammates to stick together as we head into a trip to Everton on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football.

The ever-present No3, who has been reunited with his former Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno following the Portuguese's appointment on Saturday, called for everyone to stick together, move forward and deliver as we seek to get back to winning ways.

The 28-year-old spoke to West Ham TV ahead of away fixtures at Everton and Arsenal with a determined and focused tone in his voice.

I think we've got a good group in here that know how to handle these situations and know how to come out on the better side of it

“We’ve not started off the season how we wanted,” admitted Kilman. “As a group, we have much bigger aspirations within the team, and we obviously need to try and find a way to get back on track, but it's really early in the season, and it's a time where we need to stick together, stay positive and continue to give everything we’ve got, and we believe we can turn things around.

“I think it's just the little fine details. For 95 per cent of the games, we've been dominant, and we've been good, even against Tottenham, a team that's really strong. It's just the fine margins that really cost us and have really killed us in crucial moments in the game, and we need to try and find a way to nullify that.

“It just takes one or two good results, and then you're back on track to where you want to be, and we can build from there. Everyone’s working hard, but we just need to cut out the little fine margins in games, and hopefully, we can kick on for the rest of the season.

“We've got a really experienced group of players. We’ve got players who have played so many Premier League games and have been in situations like this before.

“The Premier League is the hardest league in the world, but I think we've got a good group in here that know how to handle these situations and know how to come out the better side of it.”

Kilman is relishing the task at hand at Hill Dickinson Stadium as West Ham seek to become the first visiting team to win at Everton's new home by the River Mersey.

He continued: “It's going to be a tough game and our first time at their new stadium, but we're ready for the atmosphere it's going to bring. It'll be a great experience, but of course, we're there to do our job and to help kickstart our season.

“David Moyes has been in the Premier League for a very long time, and I think a lot of people know the kind of manager he is and the type of style he likes to play for his team. He's obviously done an amazing job as a Premier League manager over the years, including here at West Ham, but we need to try to find the best way to match Everton and to win our own individual battles.

“We need to pick up some points, but of course we need to stay calm, and I think when our time comes, it will come, but have to make sure when we do get the good results, we start to push on and really stick to that mindset.

“We probably need them (the fans) more than ever in these tough moments, and their away support is massive. Every time we travel far away, they travel so far all the way from east London to support us, so you can really feel their support and their noise, and they really help us push on during these tough away games, and I look forward to seeing them again on Monday.”
