West Ham United women’s team captain Katrina Gorry has been called up to Australia’s squad for their double-header of friendlies during the October international break.
Our skipper, who has started every Barclays Women’s Super League game this season, has made over 100 appearances for her country since making her debut in 2012 and will hope to play her first minutes in a Matildas shirt since February during the upcoming round of fixtures.
Australia will first travel to Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 25 October to face Wales in a 2pm BST kick-off, who will be playing their first match since their first appearance at a major tournament, UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
Joe Montemurro, who was appointed as Australia head coach in June 2025, will then take his side to Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium, as they face reigning European champions England on Tuesday 28 October, with kick-off at 7pm GMT.
Australia and England last faced off in the semi-finals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023, when the Lionesses ran out 3-1 winners in New South Wales.
Last season, Gorry, who was appointed captain of Rehanne Skinner’s side in September 2024, won the WSL Player Champion of Change award at the Women’s Professional Game Awards for speaking openly on how she overcame an eating disorder, as well as having IVF to become a parent and how having children helped her rediscover her love for football.

Meanwhile, defender Camila Sáéz, who is currently on loan at Barclays Women’s Super League 2 side Bristol City, has been called up to Chile’s squad for their first round of CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League fixtures.
This is the first edition of the tournament and will act as qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Chile will first travel to Venezuela on Friday 24 October, with kick-off at 10pm BST, before hosting Bolivia on Tuesday 28 October at 9pm GMT.
Sáez was last in action with Chile at her fourth Copa América Femenina over the summer, where her side were beaten in a fifth-place play-off with Paraguay in Ecuador.
