Jarrod Bowen

Internationals | Bowen recalled to England squad for September qualifiers

West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has been recalled to the senior England squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with Andorra and Serbia.

The Three Lions will welcome Andorra to Villa Park on Saturday 6 September at 5pm BST before they head to Belgrade to face Serbia on Tuesday 9 September at 7.45pm BST.

Bowen has been selected by England manager Thomas Tuchel after making a strong individual start to the 2025/26 campaign.

The skipper scored two goals and added two assists in pre-season before setting up Lucas Paquetá’s header in the Hammers’ Carabao Cup second-round tie at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday evening.

Bowen finished the 2024/25 season in scintillating form, scoring in his final four Premier League appearances and providing five goals and three assists in West Ham’s closing six top-flight matches.

He will report to St George’s Park to join the squad on Monday as England look to build on victories over Albania, Latvia and Andorra in their opening three Group K qualifiers.

Having scored his first England goal against the Republic of Ireland last November, Bowen featured as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Albania and started the 3-0 success against Latvia in March, but was left out of Tuchel’s squad for the June qualifying win over Andorra and friendly defeat by El Hadji Malick Diouf’s Senegal.

Now, Bowen is back in the squad alongside former West Ham captain Declan Rice, now with Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence and Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who have both received their maiden senior call-ups.

England go into the two September ties four points clear at the top of Group K with nine points from three games, with Albania second on five from four, Serbia third on four from two, Latvia fourth on four from three and Andorra bottom on zero from four ties played.

The group winners will qualify directly, with the runners-up advancing to the play-offs.

Everyone at West Ham United would like to wish Jarrod and England the best as they continue their quest to reach next summer’s World Cup finals in North America.
