West Ham United U23s fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City U23s in Premier League 2 Division 1 on Sunday.
A sixth-minute James McAtee penalty and a powerful strike from substitute Carlos Borges early in the second half were the difference in a top-of-the-table clash at the Academy Stadium.
The Hammers were forced to play almost an hour with only ten men after Jamal Baptiste received two yellow cards in less than ten minutes in the first period, being dismissed on 34 minutes.
Bernardo Rosa and Dan Chesters tested the Manchester City goalkeeper, Cieran Slicker, but the Irons were unable to come back into the contest.
