West Ham United U21s fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Liverpool U21s in Premier League 2 Division 1 on Saturday.
The Reds grabbed the only goal of the game through winger Ben Doak, who beat the Irons' defence on 44 minutes before slotting under the oncoming Krisztian Hegyi.
Armstrong Okoflex and Archie Woods both went close for the Irons in the first half, while Divin Mubama hit an effort narrowly over the cross-bar on 62 minutes.
Okoflex then went agonisingly close to equalising late on, only for Liverpool goalkeeper Harvey Davis to deny the forward.
