Hammerhead becomes Guinness World Record holder

West Ham United mascot Hammerhead is a Guinness World Record holder - yes, you read that correctly!

In the build-up to the final day of the campaign, on the Premier League’s ‘Welcome to the Weekend’ show on Friday 23 May, Hammerhead became the proud record holder of the most consecutive football touches by a mascot.

Smashing the previous record out of the park, Hammerhead completed 36 touches, beating the previous best by 16.

Graham Potter’s side then followed up Hammerhead’s success by securing a 3-1 victory at Portman Road against Ipswich Town, as goals from James Ward-Prowse, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus brought the curtain down on the 2024/25 season in perfect fashion for the Irons.

Elsewhere, Chelsea's Stamford the Lion mascot attempted to break the record for the fastest 100m from a mascot, narrowly missing out, while Stamford the Lion and fellow Chelsea mascot Bridget the Lioness failed to achieve the fastest 50m in a mascot wheelbarrow.
