West Ham United fell to a 2-1 defeat at Leeds United on Friday night.

The damage was done inside the opening 15 minutes of the contest, as Brenden Aaronson and Joe Rodon struck to render Mateus Fernandes' late header a mere consolation.

Aaronson knocked home on the rebound from close range with just three minutes on the clock to give the hosts the lead.

Then, only 12 minutes later, Rodon rose highest from a corner to make it 2-0.

Lucas Paquetá had a strike ruled out for a tight offside as Nuno Espírito Santo's men looked for a response, and although the Irons saw more of the ball after the break, Leeds kept us at arm's length until Fernandes flicked Jarrod Bowen's cross home in the final minute.

It proved too little, too late for the visitors, who will now return home for back-to-back games looking for a major boost.
