Finn Herrick in training for West Ham United U18s

Finn Herrick called up to England U17s

Academy goalkeeper Finn Herrick has been named in the England U17s squad for the UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying round.

The young shot-stopper has been named in the 23-man squad that will travel to Georgia to take part in a four-team group, with the aim of progressing to the elite round of qualifying in the spring with the goal of reaching next summer’s U17 European Championship Finals in Hungary.

The 16-year-old has been a regular feature in Kevin Keen's West Ham United U18s squad this season, having put pen-to-paper on scholarship terms with the Club in the summer.

England U17s will kick off their qualification campaign against Lithuania on Tuesday 25 October in the Tbilisi Sea Technical Center Stadium, with kick-of set for 12pm BST, before facing hosts Georgia on Friday at the GFF Rustavi Academy (3pm BST).

The qualifying round will conclude for England on Monday 31 October against Israel at the Tbilisi Sea Technical Center Stadium, with kick-off set for 2pm BST.

There are 13 four-team qualifying round groups, with the top two in each group joining top seeds Netherlands and Spain in the elite round, along with the four third-placed teams with the best records against the top two in their section.

Those 32 teams will then take part in the elite round of qualifying in the spring, hoping to join hosts Hungary at the Finals next summer.
