Jarrod Bowen

Fantasy Premier League | Gameweek 36 hints and tips

West Ham United continue their 2024/25 Premier League campaign when they visit Manchester United on Sunday - and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers will be casting an eye over the Hammers ahead of Gameweek 36.

Having rallied to earn a 1-1 draw with north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur last time out, Graham Potter’s side will be determined to return to winning ways as they look to end an unwanted run of eight matches without victory with a first three-point haul since we saw off Leicester City at home at the end of February.

Next up comes a trip to Old Trafford to face the Red Devils, who have put all their eggs in the UEFA Europa League basket following a disappointing domestic campaign in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim’s United hold a commanding 3-0 lead over Athletic Bilbao from their semi-final first-leg in Spain, at the time of writing, as they look to book their place in the final, where they would face either Spurs or FK Bodø/Glimt.

Meanwhile, West Ham haven’t won at Old Trafford in the Premier League since 2007, but the Irons will be attempting to complete the top-flight double over the Red Devils, having won the reverse fixture 2-1 at London Stadium in October, where Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen strikes sealed the points.

The Manchester United clash has a Fixture Difficulty Rating (FDR) of three out of five, suggesting this game represents a decent opportunity to collect points by picking Hammers in your FPL team.

The Gameweek 36 transfer deadline is set for 1.30pm on Saturday 10 May, ahead of a mouth-watering feast of weekend action that begins later that same afternoon.

Jarrod Bowen

Bowen to strike again?

In his current vein of form, it is almost impossible to not include Jarrod Bowen (£7.7m) in your Fantasy Premier League squad.

The West Ham United captain has stepped up time and again during the Hammers’ recent difficult run of results, with three goals, two assists and just one blank across his last five appearances.

Bowen now faces a Manchester United side who could be subject to heavy rotation after their second-leg UEFA Europa League semi-final clash with Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, and could be the man to help us earn a first victory at Old Trafford in 18 years.

Elsewhere, Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) offers a secure route into the West Ham defence.

It’s fair to say the Frenchman has been busy between the sticks in recent weeks, so it is hard to envisage a quiet afternoon at Old Trafford considering the Irons have not kept their opponents out since their 2-0 win over Leicester City on 27 February - nine top-flight matches ago.

Areola has kept four clean sheets this season and should provide save points at the very least this weekend.

Having started two of the last three Gameweeks at centre-forward, Niclas Füllkrug (£6.7m) could be set to start two Premier League games in a row for just the second time this season against the Red Devils.

The Hammers' No11 has scored three goals and provided two assists this season, and will be eager to finish his maiden Premier League campaign with a flourish.

Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes

Opposition Watch: Manchester United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) has enjoyed a positive season with 19 goals and 18 assists in all competitions, despite his side's struggles as a whole.

Fernandes is the biggest FPL point earner this season for the Red Devils with 164, while the Portuguese is also on set-pieces and Amorim’s first-choice penalty taker.

Alejandro Garnacho (£5.9m) set up Manchester United’s opener against Brentford last weekend before scoring a late consolation goal. Throughout the league, his 12 points last weekend were only bettered by Kevin Schade’s 14.

Garnacho’s 24 shots in the last seven Gameweeks are more than any other midfielder in Fantasy, while he has also created nine big chances in that period.

The Argentinean, who often occupies a more central attacking role, rather than his more natural position as a winger, is priced at just £5.9m, and could prove a source of value against the Hammers.
