On This Day | Cottee strike downs Dons

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history....

Tony Cottee scored his first goal of the 1995/96 Premier League season on this day exactly 30 years ago.

Michael Hughes' through ball found Australian midfielder Robbie Slater, whose shot was saved by Wimbledon goalkeeper Paul Heald, but Cottee showed his predatory instincts to follow up and lob the loose ball into the unguarded net.

Cottee's 18th-minute strike turned out to be the only goal of the game as Harry Redknapp's side grabbed a 1-0 win over the Dons.

The victory was part of a five-match unbeaten run and came during a decent season for the Hammers, who finished tenth in the table with 51 points.
