On This Day: Carroll, Amalfitano & Downing tame Tigers

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

West Ham United produced a superb second-half performance to see off the challenge of Hull City on this day in 2015.

Sam Allardyce's side had been second best in the first half, but three goals after the break were more than enough to tame the Tigers and move West Ham back above Liverpool into the Premier League's top seven.

After a goalless opening 45 minutes in which Steve Bruce's Hull were the better side, Andy Carroll pounced when Allan McGregor spilled Enner Valencia's dipping shot to put the hosts in front four minutes into the second period.

Alex Song then took centre-stage, with the Barcelona loanee finding Valencia to set up Morgan Amalfitano to clip in the Irons' second goal on 69 minutes, then providing the through ball of his own for Stewart Downing to complete the scoring on 72.

Despite this fine result, West Ham would go on a seven-match winless run and win just two of their final 16 matches to drop to 12th in the standings come the season's end.

However, you can at least enjoy this 3-0 victory over Hull again here!
