On This Day: Behrami, Obinna and Parker strike to see off Wigan

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, presented by Heineken...

West Ham United took the honours against against Roberto Martinez’s Wigan Athletic on this day in 2010.

A nervy Boleyn Ground settled after Valon Behrami opened the scoring on eleven minutes by bundling home Frédéric Piquionne’s header inside the 18 yard box.

Victor Obinna’s first league goal of the season doubled the lead for the Hammers early in the second half, although they still had to survive a big scare.

Wigan were awarded a penalty after Danny Gabbidon fouled Tom Cleverley, and substitute Mauro Boselli took the spot kick only moments after coming on, squeezing the ball beyond Rob Green.

The Irons held off the Latics though, and the outstanding Scott Parker swept home a 75th minute third from Obinna’s cross, securing all three points for the irons.
