Jermain Defoe and Joe Cole shared the goals as West Ham United twice came from a goal down to beat Nottingham Forest on this day in 2003.

The Hammers, who had not won at home in the Premier League all season, looked set for another miserable outing at the Boleyn Ground when goals from future Iron Marlon Harewood and Andy Reid put Forest 2-1 up.

Defoe had equalised in between to send the sides in level at half-time with a smart finish. Captain Cole then levelled for a second time before Forest forward David Johnson fired a penalty wide of the post following a foul by Christian Dailly on Harewood.

Defoe completed the comeback with a superb individual run and shot.

The victory not only secured West Ham a place in the FA Cup fourth round, but also manager Glenn Roeder a first home win of the season at the 13th attempt.
