How to follow…

Unfortunately, due to broadcast regulations, no live stream for Saturday’s Premier League 2 match at Blackburn Rovers will be available.

Live match updates, as is happens, will be available through our live blog coverage at whufc.com. Our live blog coverage will begin an hour before kick-off, at 12pm.

Full highlights from the game, as well as reaction from lead coach Mark Robson and the squad, will be available on YouTube and the Club website across Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Team News…

Lead coach Mark Robson may choose to utilise a team more familiar with Premier League 2 after giving a host of younger talent an opportunity in Tuesday’s Premier League International Cup clash with PSV Eindhoven.

Goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi could therefore return to the side, as could Levi Laing after missing out against Chelsea last week. The defender has served a one-game domestic suspension for a red card against Crystal Palace at the start of October.

Kaelan Casey, George Earthy, Callum Marshall and Ollie Scarles have all impressed since making the move up from the U18s to the U21s in recent weeks, and will be eager to retain their respective places in the side.

Opposition…

After a slow start to the season, Blackburn Rovers U21s seem to have found their feet in Premier League 2.

Five consecutive league defeats to begin the campaign have been followed by three consecutive wins, moving the Lancashire side up to ninth in Division 1.

Rovers have found their goalscoring form as well, netting 12 times in those three matches – beating Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City by 3-1 scorelines away while thrashing Manchester United 6-1 at home a fortnight ago.

Recent victories makes Rovers one of the in-form teams in development level football. Central to that form has been striker Harry Leonard, with the 19-year-old scoring four and assisting one goal in his side’s last three league matches.

Fellow attackers Jack Vale and Harrison Wood also have two goals apiece in Premier League 2 this season, as does midfielder Jared Harlock.

The young Rovers are coached by Mike Sheron, a former striker who represented the likes of Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers and Burnley during an impressive goalscoring career. Sheron joined the Rovers Academy in 2015 and took charge of the development side four years later.
