Inès Belloumou

Belloumou nominated for 2025 Best Algerian Player of the Year award

West Ham United women’s team defender Inès Belloumou has been nominated for the 2025 Best Algerian Player of the Year award.

The 24-year-old is one of nine players up for the accolade, and the winner will be decided by the votes of a panel of Algerian journalists and an online audience. Voting begins on Monday 3 November.

Our left-back, who has made four appearances across all competitions this term, shone for her country during their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign over the summer.

After she switched her international allegiance from France to Algeria midway through last season, Belloumou helped Les Fennecs reach the quarter-finals of the competition, with her side not conceding a goal in the process. Following a goalless draw with Ghana, Algeria were unfortunately knocked out in the last eight on penalties.

Most recently, however, Belloumou - who last term had loan spells at Lazio and Malmö FF before making her Claret and Blue debut in September - helped Algeria qualify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a two-legged success against Cameroon.

Up against our No7 for the award are Sofia Guellati, Roselène Khezami, Ghoutia Karchouni, Chloé N'Gazi, Marine Dafeur, Inès Boutaleb, Lina Boussaha and Morgane Belkhiter. The latter won the first edition of the accolade last year.
