Rice, Fornals among international call-ups

Declan Rice and Pablo Fornals were both called up by their countries on Thursday for next month's round of international fixtures.

Rice is once again named in Gareth Southgate's England squad as the Three Lions continue their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with two more Group I fixtures.

England will first head to Andorra a week on Saturday, before returning to Wembley to take on Hungary on Tuesday 12 October.

Rice was among the goalscorers as England defeated Hungary 4-0 in Budapest earlier this month and Southgate's team sit top of their group, four points clear of second-placed Albania with four games to play.

Fornals was also on the scoresheet for Spain in September's internationals - notching as La Roja defeated Kosovo 2-0 - and the Hammers midfielder is selected again as they take on the 2021 UEFA Nations League finals in Italy.

They'll play a semi-final against the hosts in Milan on Wednesday 6 October, with a final or third place play-off awaiting against either Belgium or France.

The 25-year-old has been in fine form for the Hammers this term and will hope to add to his four senior caps and one goal.

Earlier this week, Hammers trio Tomáš Souček, Vladimír Coufal and Alex Král were all called-up by Czech Republic for their upcoming brace of World Cup qualifiers.

The Czechs face Wales at home next Friday, before travelling to Belarus on Monday 11 October, and are currently second in their group, level with third-placed Wales on seven points.
