West Ham United U21s slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Colchester United in their latest EFL Trophy fixture at the JobServe Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Hammers fell behind in just the seventh minute after a lapse in concentration amongst the backline gifted U's forward Armando Dobra with a simple finish.
Dmitri Halajko's side rallied in the second period but failed to turn possession into meaningful chances and ultimately goals, leaving the hosts to claim the three points.
Despite Tuesday's loss West Ham United U21s remain second in Southern Group A and will travel to Gillingham at the end of October needing a positive result in order to qualify for the next round.
