Łukasz Fabiański: We are all up for the challenge

Łukasz Fabiański says West Ham United set the standard they need to reach in the season’s run-in in Monday night’s victory over Burnley.

The Hammers welcome Everton to London Stadium on Sunday looking for the three points which would put further distance between themselves and the Toffees and being them closer to European qualification.

Fabiański knows the Londoners will need to put In a performance to achieve their goals and says the success at Turf Moor will only feed their confidence.

Michail Antonio’s double gave them a 2-1 success over the Clarets that could well have been more comfortable, leaving the Poland goalkeeper in bullish mood ahead of Everton’s arrival.

“I think it will be another tough game for us. Everton is an opponent who are close to us in the table, they are challenging as well for the European spots so they will be going for it,” the No1 explained.

“We just have to make sure we prepare ourselves in the best way possible, deliver another good performance and see what will happen at the end of the game.

“I think what was important at Burnley was that we ended the run of two losses that we had in the recent games. We wanted to put ourselves back in a good position again and respond in a good way.

“I think we did that, first with getting the three points and secondly we put in a really good performance as a team.”

The Hammers were enterprising in their play at Turf Moor – a quality which Fabiański believes shows his team are rising to the challenge which faces them in the final month of the campaign.

“What the manager told us is to go all out and push as hard as we can,” he continued. “It’s going to be hard, but we are in a very interesting position, a good position and who knows what can happen? We’ll focus on ourselves and do the best we can.

“I’ve enjoyed wearing the shirt since the very first day. Being in this position now and challenging for something else is special. The only thing we’re missing is the fans being able to experience that, but hopefully with this season we can give them something back in the next one – who knows what kind of games they can experience in the next season?

“I’m really enjoying the moment, it’s really challenging as well, but we are all up for it and we want to finish the season in a strong way.”
