On This Day: Hammers set up play-off decider with Watford rout

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

West Ham United set up a Championship play-off decider with Wigan Athletic after thumping Watford 4-0 at Upton Park on this day in 2004.

First half goals from Don Hutchison and Christian Dailly put Alan Pardew's side well on their way to three points in the splendid spring sunshine of east London.

Marlon Harewood was next to add his name to the scoresheet, firing home from the penalty spot at the second time of asking after his miss moments earlier was chalked off due to the encroachment of the Hornets' backline.

The forward then completed the scoring with his second of the afternoon in added time, rounding off a lightning counter-attack to set up a tense trip to the DW Stadium on the final day of the season.
