On This Day: Dimitri Payet's free-kick lights up Old Trafford

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

A scintillating free-kick from Dimitri Payet hit the net as West Ham United drew 1-1 with Manchester United in the FA Cup on this day in 2016.

Payet’s curling effort gave The Hammers the advantage in the hotly contested quarter-final at Old Trafford, before Anthony Martial brought the hosts back on terms in the 83rd minute.

Martial’s equaliser came as a bitter blow to Slaven Bilic’s side who were in the ascendancy for much of the contest.

When the two teams re-opposed a month later at the Boleyn Ground, it was Manchester United who ran out 2-1 winners and advanced to the semi-finals.
