West Ham United climbed up to 9th place in the Premier League table with a deserved 2-0 win over Newcastle United on this day in 2019.

A first-half header from Declan Rice put the Hammers in control at London Stadium, before captain Mark Noble netted a trademark penalty to extend the advantage before the break.

The Magpies best effort of the afternoon came from Salomon Rondon. The Venezuelan forward crashed a free-kick off the post as the visitors went in search of a late consolation.
