Join the Hammers' Squad to take on 13 other football clubs in London and raise funds for the West Ham United Foundation.
The Race Europe event will see 14 London football clubs race across Europe in a virtual activity challenge.
Working in squads of 23, each Club aims to be the fastest to cover the 6,720 miles that separate all of the Euro 2021 host cities.
The event is currently scheduled to run during March and participants can log miles in nearly 80 different activities (subject to any government guidelines). These include everything from gardening and car washes to walking, running, swimming, golf, tennis and football.
Race Europe will be monitoring the government guidance on exercise and outdoor activities over the next few weeks and reviewing and adapting the list of approved activities to make sure that the challenge can be completed safely and in line with all legislation.
When the challenge goes live in March, an event portal will chart the progress of each Club team and as each squad reaches a host city, information about that city and its footballing history will be unlocked.
All funds raised from the event will support the West Ham United Foundation’s work in the community - supporting projects which respond to local need and tackling key issues facing people across East London and Essex, such as poverty, loneliness, equality, and health and wellbeing.
Over the last eleven months the Foundation has been working tirelessly to continue to meet the needs of its beneficiaries and the wider community - partnering with essential services, giving donations and additional support.
This ranges from providing more than 5,000 meals through the Holiday Hunger scheme, distributing essential items to the elderly, delivering food, masks and clothes to local homeless organisations and foodbanks, establishing new mental health and employability schemes, as well as key interventions and mentoring for young people, and more.
However, there is a lot more to be done now and for many months to come as the impact of COVID-19 continues to affect our communities and our people, and you can help us to make a difference by joining our Race Europe Squad!
To secure a place in the Race Europe Virtual Event 2021, you will need to pay a £10 entry fee and commit to raising £125.00 in sponsorship (excluding Gift Aid); tying in with West Ham United’s 125th anniversary.
West Ham United Foundation Managing Director, Kerry Downes, said: “We’re delighted to be delivering this alongside the other London United Clubs, providing an engaging and interactive opportunity for people to join up with others virtually and give back to the local community. With so many activities to choose from there’s something for all ages and abilities to get involved in.”
