On This Day: Frédéric Kanouté's header sinks Fulham

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

West Ham United recorded their first away win of the calendar year with a 1-0 triumph over London rivals Fulham on this day in 2002.

Frédéric Kanouté’s header on the stroke of half-time proved to be decisive, on an afternoon when chances were few and far between for both teams.

A hectic Easter schedule saw the Hammers beat Ipswich Town 3-1 at the Boleyn Ground just two days prior to the trip to Craven Cottage.

Glenn Roeder’s side, however, showed little signs of fatigue as they edged the hosts further into a relegation battle.

West Ham would go on to finish seventh in the Premier League under the late Roeder, who sadly passed away in February this year, aged 65.
