West Ham United U21s began their EFL Trophy campaign with a 3-1 win over Southend United at Roots Hall on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Ademipo Odubeko (2) and Conor Coventry were enough to see the young Hammers past the League Two opposition.
It was Dmitri Halajko's side first competitive fixture since March, with trips to Colchester United and Portsmouth to follow in Southern Group A.
