On This Day: Carrick and Kanoute goals shock Chelsea

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

West Ham United ended Chelsea's unbeaten start to the 2001/02 Premier League season with a 2-1 win at the Boleyn Ground on this day 19 years ago.

The Hammers, who themselves kicked-off in 15th place, were at it from the start of this frenetic London derby, opening the scoring inside five minutes through a trademark long-range strike from Michael Carrick.

And it was 2-0 on 13 minutes when Frederic Kanoute beat goalkeeper Mark Bosnich with a shot from 20 yards.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink pulled one goal back for Chelsea with a well-struck effort before the same player hit the post, but West Ham held on to secure three points.
