On This Day: Nigel Winterburn ends West Ham's 22 years of hurt at Leeds United

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

Nigel Winterburn's first goal for West Ham United brought an end to the Hammers' 22-year wait for a victory at Elland Road on this day in 2000.

The veteran former Arsenal defender stooped to head home at the far post on the stroke of half-time, securing a 1-0 Premier League win for Harry Redknapp's Hammers

It was a thoroughly-deserved away win for the Irons against hosts who had an eye on their upcoming UEFA Champions League tie with Real Madrid the following week.

West Ham's success came without Paolo Di Canio, who did not board the coach after suffering from an upset stomach, and the injured Joe Cole, and was secured when the left-back got in front of Gary Kelly to convert Trevor Sinclair's cross.

Enjoy the winning goal again here!
