Tomáš Souček: It was big drama at the end!

Tomáš Souček was thrilled to notch his first goal of the season and even happier to help his side defeat Fulham at London Stadium on Saturday evening.

Souček's injury time strike sparked a dramatic end to the contest, which saw Ademola Lookman miss a penalty with the final kick of the game.

The Czech Republic midfielder felt his side merited their victory for the work they put in over the 90 minutes, even if it came with a slice of good fortune at the end.

He has had to wait to write his name on the scoresheet this term, after his header in the 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers was ruled a Raul Jimenez own goal, but his intervention on Saturday was timely.

Tomas Soucek celebrates his goal against Fulham

"It was big drama," the No28 said. "It was hard throughout the game, but we had to win and we tried to get ahead for all the 90 minutes and then Lukasz saved it for us in the last second.

"I am very happy with the goal - I've had many chances so far this season, and I scored the goal against Wolves which they made an own goal, so finally I've scored a normal goal for the team.

"It's a winning goal too, so I'm very happy and proud of the squad for how we played.

"To be honest I was scared because the referee had to check the goal [for a potential offside in the build-up], but it's nice that we got the three points.

"We had a really hard schedule and we played well against the big six. Now we wanted the three points against Fulham to move up the table. It's an international break now and we'll be happy in the changing room to win before the break."
