On This Day: Cole and Stanislas sign-off West Ham's season with a win in 2009

West Ham United signed off for the 2008/09 campaign with a 2-1 Premier League victory against Middlesbrough at the Boleyn Ground on this day eleven years ago.

The Hammers, under Gianfranco Zola's management, ended the season in ninth place thanks to goals from Carlton Cole and Junior Stanislas, ensuring future West Ham midfielder Gary O'Neil's consolation strike counted for nothing.

While the home side were able to celebrate a good season, Middlesbrough were left to contemplate relegation to the Championship after an eleven-year stay in the top flight.
