eSports star Jas wins Futbolistanbul FIFA tournament

West Ham United Esports player ‘Jas’ Singh has won the Xbox Futbolistanbul competition, one of the first major tournaments since the suspension of the global FIFA 20 season.

Jas, who first started representing the Club last summer, was in sensational form throughout, closing out the four-day tournament with a well-fought two-leg win over Feyenoord’s Ryan Tilborg.

Each match-up in the knockout stages employed a ‘best of three games format, with Jas winning the final in straight legs – coming from behind in the first leg to win 2-1 in extra-time, before defeating Tilborg by the same score-line in extra-time in the second.

Those followed up impressive wins over TheXDemon10 and XLennyyy, as well as a resounding performance in the Swiss group stages earlier in the week.

As the fourth winner of the competition, Jas will now enjoy a tournament winner prize fund of $1,000, as well as no shortage of confidence going into future events.

“It was crazy to win the Futbolistanbul tournament,” Jas said. “It’s one of the first big FIFA tournaments since the competitive season was suspended.

“Before the group stages I’d gone to work at 6am, got back at 12.55pm and started playing matches at 1pm - I quick time fired up the Xbox, no warm ups - and got through with a 4-1 win-loss record.

“I was feeling confident in the knockout stages and played some great opponents, so to win it all was amazing."

“He had some massive results over the last four days,” commentator Brandon Smith concluded. “The player who created the most chances took the victory – a deserved winner in the Xbox tournament.”
