On This Day: Late strike stings Hornets

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Basset & Gold...

West Ham United snatched a last-gasp win over Watford on this day in 1987!

The Hammers looked set to be held by the Hornets as the game ticked into the final minute of the 90 still goalless.

However, John Lyall's Irons proved patience pays off as George Parris collected Tony Cottee's pass and drove a shot past Tony Coton from 20 yards to secure all three points.

West Ham, who also included the likes of Liam Brady, Frank McAvennie and Billy Bonds in their team that day, went on to finish 15th in the First Division table.

Basset & Gold are West Ham United's official sleeve sponsor and eSports partner.
