Team news: Moyes gives Fabianski and Snodgrass updates

Lukasz Fabianski

David Moyes has indicated that Lukasz Fabianski and Robert Snodgrass could return to action for West Ham United against Liverpool.

The Irons return to action on Wednesday at London Stadium against the Premier League leaders, and Moyes could call on two of his more experienced players when Jurgen Klopp’s Reds visit Stratford.

Fabianski, having initially recovered from injury, has missed the last three matches in all competitions due to a set-back sustained in the away game at Sheffield United, but manager Moyes says the Poland international is back in training and in his thoughts for the coming game.

Snodgrass has also returned to the training pitches after missing the FA Cup match with West Bromwich Albion and the boss is hopeful of calling on the midfielder too.

“We’ve still got one or two people out,” Moyes said. “There’s some good news in that Fabianski is very close and could feature. I’m just going to make that call tomorrow and see how he is. But he’s trained for the last few days. It would be good to get him back.

“Snodgrass has trained today. He’s had a bit of a ligament injury. We’re hoping Snoddy is going to be okay as well.”

Amid speculation that West Ham could add Slavia Prague midfielder Tomáš Souček to the squad before the transfer window closes on Friday, Moyes also confirmed that the Czech Republic international is undergoing a medical with the Irons.

Moyes added: “I’m hoping he is in the middle of his medical right now and, with a bit of luck, he’s possibly finished it. I think that he gives us a lot of different aspects but, more importantly, he fits the profile of the player I want to bring to West Ham.”
