Tomáš Souček: I think it was a fair result

Tomáš Souček's forehead has become a regular source of goals for the Hammers.

Since his made his debut in a Claret & Blue shirt eleven months ago, no player has scored more with his head in the Premier League than the Czech Republic midfielder.

His fourth - level with Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin - salvaged a point for his team against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, as he converted an Aaron Cresswell corner eight minutes from time to secure a 2-2 draw.

The Hammers had to twice come from behind, with Ben Johnson scoring earlier for the Hammers, and Soucek thought the end outcome was just.

"A think a draw was fair," he said. "We're a little bit disappointed because before we game we wanted to win, but when you go behind twice at 1-0 and 2-1 [you have to take it]. I think a draw was fair for both sides.

"We created maybe more chances, and we showed good spirit that we wanted to win the game when we were twice losing,"

Alongside his fourth strike of the season, Souček was delighted for Academy product Johnson after he scored his first senior goal.

"Ben is a good guy, a young guy and he deserves that very much," he added.

"Every day he gives 100 per cent in training and it was a very good performance from him."

West Ham have to steel themselves for a swift return to action, with a trip to Southampton just around the corner on Tuesday, and Souček is keen for his team to help themselves by scoring the first goal of the game.

"In the last four matches we've conceded the first goal and that makes it difficult to win," he explained.

"We need to score the first goal in the next game, that's very important for us.

"It will be a hard game because we only have tomorrow for recovery, but we want to win. We want to win in each game, so we will prepare tomorrow and look to improve a few pieces.

"I think it'll be a similar game to today and I hope we come out of it with three points."
