West Ham United Statement

West Ham United can confirm that the Club’s U18s, U23s and women’s fixtures this coming weekend will be rescheduled.

With the majority of England in Tier 3 and a small number of individuals returning positive tests for COVID-19, the decision has been taken to rearrange the three matches with everyone’s safety and wellbeing of paramount importance.

New dates for the Academy’s Under-18 Premier League trip to Southampton tomorrow, the women’s Barclays FA WSL match against Aston Villa at Dagenham & Redbridge on Sunday, and the PL2 fixture at Manchester City on Monday will be confirmed in due course.

The individuals concerned immediately began a period of self-isolation in accordance with Public Health England and Government guidelines and protocols.

As a precaution, the Club’s Chadwell Heath training site - home to the West Ham United Academy and the women’s first team squad - has also been closed slightly earlier for Christmas. The women’s squad will now begin their winter break, returning to training on Monday 4 January 2021, while the Academy will also close for a Christmas break and return as planned on Monday 28 December. The site will undergo deep cleaning during this period.

No members of the men’s first-team squad have been affected, and the Rush Green training centre continues to operate as normal.

The Club’s measures and protocols around COVID-19 remain stringent, and the safety and wellbeing of our players, staff and supporters continues to be our absolute priority.
