Vladimír Coufal: Seb's goal was perfect for the team

Vladimir Coufal

Few players on the London Stadium pitch would have had as good a view of Sébastien Haller's spectacular Crystal Palace equaliser than Vladimír Coufal.

The Hammers No5 more than played his part in the Ivorian's exceptional overhead kick, first bringing his team up the pitch at pace down the right hand flank before delivering the cross that Haller acrobatically dispatched into the top left hand corner of Vicente Guaita's net.

Haller's second half intervention earned the Hammers a point against the Eagles, as they battled back from conceding to Christian Benteke's header to earn a 1-1 draw.

While ultimately Coufal was frustrated that the hosts had to settle for a single point, he acknowledged that Palace succeeded in making life difficult for them.

Sebastien Haller scores against Crystal Palace

"It's my job to get crosses into the box and Seb is a great attacker," the No5 explained. "It's a good finish - he tried it in practice and now it's goal of the month maybe!

"My job is crosses and defence, and his job is to finish it to score the goals. He scored the goal and it's perfect for the team.

"Of course we're disappointed that we couldn't get the win, but I have to say that Crystal Palace were a very tough opponent.

"They played a good and physical game, with strong counter-attacks. They have good forwards like Eze and Zaha, so we have to take the point because it was a tough game."
