Declan Rice to take on Mason Mount in FIFA ‘battle’!

Declan Rice vs Mason Mount on FIFA 20

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice will take on close friend and England team-mate Mason Mount on EA Sports’ FIFA 20 on Monday evening!

With professional football currently suspended due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, 21-year-old Rice has promised supporters a ‘very entertaining’ ‘battle’ will ensue against the Chelsea midfielder on the globally popular football game.

The match will be broadcast a day later than the Premier League fixture between West Ham and Chelsea at London Stadium was originally scheduled to be played.

You’ll be able to watch along from 7pm on Monday (6 April) on whufc.com.

And, referring to the Hammers’ 1-0 win at the home of the Blues earlier this season, Rice has promised supporters that an entertaining contest lies in store.

“I’m really looking forward to our FIFA match,” Rice explained. “Obviously, we took the first game [between West Ham and Chelsea] at Stamford Bridge earlier this season – so I’m really looking forward to welcoming Mason to the virtual London Stadium!

“Mason and I don’t really play against each other on any games – we’ve played with each other mostly – so I’m really looking forward to this first battle!”

The FIFA game will feature accompanying commentary and reactions from both Rice and Mount, who have been close friends for more than a decade.

It’s going to be a very entertaining match for the supporters – and I think they’ll love my commentary too!

The two appeared on the same team for the first occasion in England’s 4-0 win over Bulgaria in September, before playing against one another for the first time when West Ham defeated Chelsea in November.

“With England, the FIFA scene’s decent,” Rice admitted. “Most players are pretty good at it – but Fortnite’s the game they all love.”

As for Monday’s encounter, Rice is looking forward to the light-hearted match, which he hopes will bring a smile to supporters’ faces during these unprecedented times.

“I’m planning to keep my game possession-based and have my strikers make runs in behind,” he explained. “That’s my FIFA style!

“It’s going to be a very entertaining match for the supporters – and I think they’ll love my commentary too! I hope everyone enjoys watching it."
