On This Day: Hammers drive through the rain to sink the Seagulls

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Basset & Gold....

West Ham United were flying high in the Championship under Sam Allardyce when they made their first-ever visit to Brighton & Hove Albion's Amex Stadium on 24 October 2011.

The game, which was broadcast live across the UK and played in driving rain, was settled by a single goal scored by captain Kevin Nolan.

The captain robbed Liam Bridcutt before curling a superb finish past his former Newcastle United teammate and friend Steve Harper in the Seagulls goal.

Enjoy a victory which took the Hammers up to second in the table again here!
